RULES
OF SOUTHERN POINT
OUT OF CHARACTER |
- Maintaining a mature and welcoming community, you must grant all visitors, members, and staff your respect. Always be polite and courteous to others. If you see something that you consider is offensive/upsetting, do not start a war about it; instead, message a staff member of it (keep in mind that just because you dislike something doesn't mean it will be removed). If you are experiencing a conflict with another member and cannot keep it mature and level-headed, contact a staff member. Hateful language, harassment, aggression (direct or passive), poor attitudes, name calling, flaming, trolling, bullying and general rudeness through posts or PMs are never tolerated and will result in a warning or possible ban depending on how many offences you receive.
- Try to AT LEAST post on the forum once a week, and post AT LEAST in roleplay once every two weeks. If you do not, you will be marked as an inactive member and depending on how long you are gone, your profile will be deleted. If you think you cannot be active for three weeks or so, alert staff of this in the "Haitus" board. Southern Point is a commitment, and if you cannot meet the requirements, consider becoming a pack friend instead of a full member.
- Art theft is not tolerated here. If you are caught doing so, this can result in an instant ban. You CANNOT post or otherwise use images that you do not have permission to use. If you do not have permission to use a picture you found online somewhere but want to anyway, post the link to the image rather than re-host it. Art which features violence, blood/gore, strong spiritual themes, or anything classified as "vent art" should be marked as mature in the subject line. Art which features the following topics are not allowed to be posted on this site, even as mature topics: nudity, sex, rape, abuse/exploitation, real-world racism, belligerent nationalism.
- Everything posted on the site must be PG-13. No overly excessive gore, blood, swearing, and mature topics. Violation of this rule may result in a ban or a warning depending on how severe the offense is.
- You may have only ONE account per character. An acceptable username could be "Jack". Nothing like "jack", "JACK", or anything with symbols. Your profile picture must be appropriate to the forums, as well as images in signatures. Signature images cannot be any larger than 500x300 pixels or they will be removed.
- Mini-Modding is not allowed. This includes getting after members for breaking written forum rules, it is best to just Private Message a staff member informing them of the infraction (include screenshots or quotes). You may inform someone if they have broken a rule, show them the rule, but you must still inform a staff member and you should not tell them that they will "get in trouble", ect. or in anyway reprimand your fellow members. If you tend to do this often, the staff will ask you to refrain from doing so.
REGISTRATION & CHARACTER CREATION |
- Register under your first character's name. Ideally this should be 1 word. Numbers and symbols in usernames are considered spam and will be deleted. After a week of inactivity, OOC accounts with no characters will be deleted. After a week of inactivity, accounts with no posts or biography created will be deleted.
- Your first two characters are free. To make more, all existing characters must be active within roleplay, and you will need to purchase a character slot with points, the site currency.
- Points are used to purchase items in the site shop. Characters with disabilities, deformities, mental illnesses, odd pelt/eye colors/patterns, and more may only be created by purchasing items from the shop. Keep in mind the realities of creating these types of characters. Staff reserves the right to deny such purchases if we feel they are being abused or if we feel a user cannot respectfully portray a disability, etc.
- Pregnant canids and pups may not be created. Your canid must first become pregnant by an already existing male on the site. If you wish to bring in a pup/pregnant character into roleplay for plotting purposes, feel free to run your idea by a staff member and they may or may not allow you to do so.
- To give everyone fair chance at having litters users may only have one litter per season; more can only be obtained with staff permission (usually for plot purposes). Pups without a plot will not be approved as extra litters.
- Keep your characters realistic. Unrealistic coat colors such as yellow and orange, if it is a hue, are allowed. Markings do have to stay within the allowed color range, but cannot do anything such as move/glow/ect. A canid's pelt color can change depending on the season, when their fur is shorter or longer and you are most certainly allowed to have your canid undergo a minor color change in between seasons and with age. We are more flexible with eye colors, however, as we allow a range of (reasonable) blues and greens. Eye colors such as pink, red, and purple are not allowed. As for size, you must keep it in range with your character's species. You can go slightly above or below, but nothing too extreme.
- Your characters must go through the aging process. They are required to age by a year every eight months real time.
- Mary/Gary Sues or "perfect" characters are prohibited. Try to keep it creative!
- If your character has a mate, adopted pups, or pups, you cannot go through a character change without cutting off ties with the mate character as well as offspring (if any). If you have gone through a character change within the past 5 months, you may not change. Make sure you have enough points to pay for the change (your first change is free), and then post your application in the Site Shop. Once a staff member has approved, you may post your new character's biography, wait for it to be accepted, and afterwards, get rid of your current character by either killing them or making them leave.
ROLEPLAYING |
- Chat speak is not allowed in roleplay posts. We know everyone makes mistakes, but try to maintain decent grammar and spelling in all of your posts. All posts must be written in English, with at least four complete sentences (not counting spoken words) and in third-person. Spam is also not tolerated.
- We are a semi-realistic roleplay; therefore, we do not allow fantasy things such as wings, special powers, religion, ect. and your canids must be realistic to their species. For example, your characters are not allowed to have unnatural colors such as red eyes, bright pink fur, ect. You must stay realistic when fighting as well. Your character is bound to take damage in a fight, this means that according to the injuries you receive, (bites, broken bones, etc) your character must react accordingly. Unless they have an approved that allows them not to feel pain, they must experience it. Likewise, any injury that would cause fatigue or any other inhibition must have that inhibition shown. Only three dodges are allowed when fighting. When encountering other animals such as cougars, bears, ect, your character must act appropriately.
- No godmodding, powerplay, ect. You can only control your character and as this is a realistic roleplay your character is not going to be able to be all powerful. There is no magic, no super powers, and your character cannot dodge every attack. If your character attempts to dodge every attack the staff will intervene and require you to take hits.
- Metagaming is also not allowed. Such as character 1 is a spy trying to attack, character 2 would not know that unless they in-characterly gave it away.
- Rare predators, prey, and humans cannot be brought into roleplay out of nowhere, as well as natural disasters. These events will have to be created by staff, although you can run your ideas past them, or purchase the ability to do so via the site shop.
- You may not kill off a person's character without their saying that you can do so.
- Please don't bring OOC to IC; leave your personal feelings for OOC.
- Liquid time is only allowed in minor roleplay events and private roleplay threads.
